Our Mission
At the Longwood Small Animal Imaging Facility (SAIF), our mission is to provide state-of-the-art small animal imaging services to researchers in the Longwood Medical Area of Harvard Medical School, as well as external academic and corporate researchers.
To that end, we have designed a dynamic facility to provide multi-modality imaging, advanced data analysis, image fusion resources, custom chemistry, and a satellite animal facility for longitudinal studies. Further, we have developed a streamlined system to expedite the movement of animals into the facility.
Our goal is to make this a one-stop service for you. After your animals are transported into the Longwood SAIF, our technicians administer anesthesia, perform imaging, and care for your animals in our animal housing facility. They will then assist you with data analysis and display, and then will provide all data on a CD, DVD, or USB memory stick. Assistance with grant and manuscript preparation is also available.
We welcome you to explore our services and technology in Facilities & Services, would be delighted to field questions, and look forward to working with you.
